Mailbox Monday #1 ~ South Asian Authored YA Books, Romance and a New Favorite Author

Mailbox Monday is a fun feature started by Marcia of To be Continued!

Warning: Mailbox Monday can lead to envy, toppling TBR piles, and humongous wish lists!!

It’s an occasion to show off book-mail that came in within the last week, as we know, reading and buying books are two separate hobbies!

Now without further ado, the book-mail is as follows!

Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating paperback lays on a white cloth with red flowers
Hani and Ishu’s Guide to Fake Dating by Aditya Jaigirdar

You would not believe how long I’ve been taking this out of my cart and putting it back in! A few weeks ago I finally decided to say screw it, and I got it from Waterstones! I will always grab books featuring bisexual rep, and this being a contemporary YA with South Asian rep was just the cherry on top!

The Hundred Thousand Kingdoms by NK Jemisin

I finished The Broken Earth Trilogy earlier this year, and I AM OBSESSED, this series blew my mind. I truly can not comprehend how something can be so gorgeously and devastatingly written. So of course I’m on a journey through all of NK Jemisin’s work! This one’s start is already so good!

Land of Sand and Song by Joyce Chua is on a white cloth with embroidered red flowers

I read a sample of this last year, and was immediately swept away! It’s a YA historical fantasy by Singaporean author, Joyce Chua, who is such a friendly and delightful presence on my IG timeline! I’ve had this one in my cart just waiting on a sale to snap it up, but alas, with no sale on the horizon and stocks dimming, I just sucked it up and got it!

The Night of Legends by Leslie W is stacked on a few books.
The Night of Legends by Leslie W.

This one is also by a Singaporean author and asks the question:

What if everything you’ve been taught was a lie?

Which to be honest , is a trope that will always get me! I’ve heard interesting things about the magic system and I’m excited to dive into this fast paced YA fantasy!

The Cover for American Royalty by Tracey Livesay

I also grabbed up a few ebooks with this being the one I’m most looking forward to reading!!! It’s about a princess of rap falling for a British prince, probably loosely based off of M&H!

Are you familiar with any of these? And what about you? Have you received any bookmail recently?

Au revoir, mes amis! Rendez-vous a demain!
