Top Ten Tuesday #1

Hello Everyone!

Three posts in the span of a two week period? Who are they???

It’s NaNoWriting Month and it’d be remiss of me if I didn’t up my game! Plus this weeks prompt is extremely fun and one I’ve been actually planning on doing for a while!

….of course a few of the books on my initial list got canceled on twitter??? Which is very much a discussion for another post for sure!

Top Ten Tuesday is a feature hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl with fun prompts straight through to September! I’ll definitely be trying more out later this month!

Top Ten Tuesday Most Anticipated Books Releasing In the Second Half of 2022

What Souls Are Made Of by Tasha Suri, this is a ‘remix’ of the Brontë classic, Wuthering Heights, told through the POVs of Catherine and Heathcliff and tackles British Indian identity and being white-passing! Out July 5th!

The Witchery by S Isabelle, is a book of #BlackGirlMagic dreams! Three cocky high school witches band together with a newcomer, to bring down a curse that preys upon the citizens of their town. Their plot goes awry and shenanigans ensue. Out July 26th!

The Book Eaters by Sunya Dean, in the Yorkshire Moors, where a race of people survive by consuming books, a mother grapples with her place in an oppressive, patriarchal society when her son is born a monster, unable to consume books, he consumes minds instead. Out August 2nd!

The Weight of Blood by Tiffany Jackson, prolific author is back with a new thriller that reimagines the classic “CARRIE”. In Springville, Georgia, the local highschool’s ‘Inaugural Integrated Prom’ goes off the rails, when a biracial student passing for white, causes an incident that reverberates through the whole town. Out September 6th!

Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco, written specifically for those who loved Castlevania but wished it was queer ….and polyamorous. A bounty hunter of rogue vampires must align with his mortal enemies, a vampire heiress and her fiancé to get to the bottom of the mysterious new breed of vampires plaguing the city, and the virus that they bring with them. Out September 13th!

The covers for the following books arranged from left to right: What Souls Are Made Of: A Wuthering Heights Remix by Tasha Suri, The Witchery by S Isabelle, The Book Eaters by Sunya Dean,
The Weight of Blood by Tiffany Jackson, Silver Under Nightfall by Rin Chupeco, Rust in the Blood by Justina Ireland, The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang, House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson, The Whispering Dark by Kelly Andrew
Gorgeous, gorgeous covers everywhere!

Rust in the Root by Justina Ireland, mystical arts, arcane forces and Mechomancy! I have no idea what any of that means, but I’m chomping at the bit to sit back and sink into another Justina Ireland historical fantasy! Out September 20th!

The Genesis of Misery by Neon Yang, billed as a space opera Joan of the Arc retelling, this book follows Misery, a nobody from nowhere with a strange ability thought to be possessed only by saints, or those who’ve gone voidmad. Cursed or Gifted, Misery finds themself at the heart of an empire on the brink, and their choice could be the one that sends it all toppling down. Out September 27th!

House of Hunger by Alexis Henderson, having been absolutely swept away by this author’s debut, The Year of the Witching, I was more than ready for her next dazzling enterprise. But I wasn’t quite expecting this sumptuous meal!

A desperate, poor young maiden answers a newspaper listing for a bloodmaid, and gets spirited away to high society and higher stakes in a game she doesn’t know how to play. Sure to be a dark, moody gothic delight! Out September 27th!

The Whispering Dark by Kelly Andrew, now this is one for fans of Dark Academia! We have a class on slipping into parallel worlds, a Deaf protagonist who has voices calling to her from the shadows, a old nameless horror out for blood all in between classes that have final exams at the end of the semester! Out October 20th!

And last, but not least! My most anticipated book of the 2022!

It’s a Joan He book, so of course I was excited, but I became absolutely obsessed after I read a sample on Netgalley! (Of course I was denied an arc 💔 thanks a lot Roaring Brook Press! But what’s waiting 103 more days?)

I’m so excited for all the details on the book cover to make sense!

Strike the Zither by Joan He, the first in a new duology from the author, is a gender flipped reimagining of one of the Four Classics of Chinese literature, the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. For those who relish in military epics, political intrigue, deceit and ruthless betrayal. Out October 25th!

What are your most anticipated releases of the rest of 2022? Are you excited for any of these books?

See you later, alligator!
